Luminaria can be purchased from any team member for only $5. The bags themselves can be decorated with markers, photos, flowers and anything else. There have been some very creative bags in the past and there are a few examples in the Photo Galleries. After Relay is over, the bags can be saved as keepsakesI. TEAM CAPTAINS: Luminaria Names need to be turned in to the Luminaria Chair on or before Bank Night to ensure the names are added to the list for the Luminaria Ceremony. Money and Bags MUST be turned in on Relay Night; the earlier the better. Luminaria will still be sold on-site on Relay Night and names can be added to the list that night too. Luminaria are ways for us to both Celebrate and Remember those touched by cancer. We light candles in the Luminaria in Honor of
those who have battled with cancer and survived or who are currently battling it. We also light candles in Memory of those who were not as fortunate. During the Luminaria
Ceremony, the candles are lit and the glow from these bags light the track for the remainder of the night. During the Luminaria Ceremony,
everyone is pulled from the track and the names of each person represented is read aloud. It truly is a touching ceremony.| 2009 Names | |
